My Favorite Sandwich

My Favorite Sandwich

One day I decided to make my very favorite sandwich.

I was very hungry and I knew we had everything I needed to make it.

So, I went to the kitchen and started to put everything on the counter.

First I got some fresh bread.

Then I got out some roast beef and turkey.

Then I got out some provolone cheese.

Then I got out some lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles.

Then I got out the mayonnaise, salt and pepper.

I was all set now to make my sandwich.

As I turned around to get a plate and napkins, I heard a most terrible chatter.

I turned to look and I see all the sandwich pieces arguing.

The bread was saying that he was most important, for without him, there would be no way to hold the sandwich together.

The roast beef said that he was most important for he provided the protein course of the sandwich.

The turkey argued saying that he was most important for he too gave the most to the whole sandwich.

The provolone cheese said that everyone else was wrong, for he not only gave the meats a better taste, but he was also creamy.

The lettuce said that if not for him, the sandwich would not be crispy and it would not be the very best sandwich without him.

The tomatoes said that without them, the sandwich would be dry and not juicy.

The onions said they were the most important for they made the whole sandwich a little hot and spicy.

The pickles stood up and said that they were most important for they were crispy, tangy, and tasty.

The mayonnaise said that he was the grandest for he made the whole sandwich creamy and smooth.

The salt and pepper said they were the most important for they spiced up the whole sandwich.

As I stood and watched, everyone was most concerned with who was the most important.

Everyone was arguing and trying to justify why they were the most important.

I told everyone to "BE QUIET!!!"

I said that they were ALL right!

They stopped and looked at me.

I said that without any one of them, I would not have my very favorite sandwich.

I told them that each one of them was very important to me and that I needed each and every one of them.

I told them that they all serve different purposes and all were needed.

Well, everyone quieted down.

Everyone realized that each one of them was needed and there was none greater than the other.

So, I put my sandwich together.

First I put the bread out.

I spread some mayonnaise on the bread.

I put the roast beef and turkey on.

Then I put the cheese on.

Then I put the lettuce on.

Then some tomatoes and onions.

Then some pickles.

I sprinkled some salt and pepper all over.

Put the other piece of bread on.

And presto!! My very favorite sandwich!!!

Now your very favorite sandwich may not be like mine...

You may like peanut butter and jelly.

But the bread, the jelly and the peanut butter are all needed to make it your favorite special sandwich.

One is not greater than the other.

Well, you have just learned a very good lesson today.

In God’s kingdom he has many servants.

There are many parts of the body of Christ.

Every one of us has a gift from God.

Your gift may be faith.

It may be grace.

It may be mercy.

It may be knowledge.

It may be giving.

It may be kindness.

There are many, many gifts needed in the body of Christ.

And each is as important as the other.

While you are young, understand this.

Use the gift God has given you for His glory.

And let God enjoy his very favorite sandwich with you in it. YUM!!!
